Fibwi accelerates its expansion process with the purchase of Canal4 TV

The Internet telecommunications, telephone and radio and television services operator, fibwi, in its expansion process as a reference media, has acquired the regional television of Group 4. With the signing of this purchase, subject to administrative authorizations corresponding, the operator becomes the first private media outlet in the Balearic Islands and will incorporate the current employees of Channel 4 TV into its workforce.


For Francisco Alcalde, its CEO and founder, "fibwi is going to be the largest private television station in the Balearic Islands after this purchase. A very important change in the audiovisual panorama of our islands that will allow viewers to enjoy a powerful television channel with great contents".


In reference to said content, Francisco Alcalde assures that "we are going to continue betting on current affairs with a line marked by plurality as an independent and objective medium that it is. Likewise, private television in the Balearic Islands will arrive with excellent image quality for its technological capacity with content in HD and soon in 4K".


This acquisition "strengthens the audiovisual market in the Balearic Islands and allows us to accelerate our expansion process," says Francisco Alcalde.


At the same time, the digital Canal 4 Diario will be part of fibwi after this acquisition "but this medium is going to undergo a significant transformation," says the CEO and founder of fibwi. Also included in this acquisition is the purchase of Club4. As for Channel 4 Radio, the station will continue to operate on the same group dials.


"Ours is a brave decision and is based on the commitment that we as a media outlet have with Balearic society," concludes Francisco Alcalde.


It should also be noted that Channel 4 TV will continue to broadcast part of its programming and, progressively, content from fibwi will be included, which will, from now on, direct the schedule.
